Are You Ready For the Bikini Season? Avoid These 4 Sleep-Mistakes!

If you want to have a good lifestyle you should follow some simple rules, both during summer and winter. An inappropriate sleep can affect your metabolism and consequently your shape! Find out why!

Why a Bad Sleep Could Get You Fat?

Not only an healthy eating and an exercise regime, but also a good sleep helps you to maintain or regain your ideal weight.

This is because a bad sleep means a reduction of melatonin production and then an increasing of hormones such as estrogens, testosterone and ghrelin, the hormone that stimulates appetite and that tells to the body when to be hungry!

People Who Sleep Few Tend To Burn 20% Less Calories

A research study by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has shown that people who sleep few hours per night tend to burn about 20% less calories after meals than people who sleep longer.

Mistake 1 – Too Much “Snooze” And Too Little “Work-Out”…

During summer, the morning is the perfect time to do some outdoor exercises: The cool temperatures, the sun already high, and a lower percentage of pollen in the air than in the evening, make it the ideal time to run or even just to take a walk before work!

Do not push too many times “snooze” on your phone alarm clock, wake up and workout!

Mistake 2 – Refreshing Drinks And Snacks…

During the hot summer’s nights it’s hard to resist the temptation of drinking a cold beverage or eating an ice cream. Avoid snacks and drinks after dinner, they are often full of sugar, and could alter your sleep. If you can resist, choose a frosty glass of water with a slice of lemon!

Mistake 3 – Is Your Rest Environment Well-Kept?

Mistake 4 – Is Your Bed-System Right For You?

Choose carefully the mattress, the bed-base and the pillow: They are the key elements for a refreshing rest without any interruptions! Remember to flip your mattress on the summer side, usually made of more breathable materials, such as cotton or linen.

If You Sleep Lesser Than 5 Hours Per Night, You Risk More!

People who sleep lesser than 5 hours risk to suffer from obesity and diabetes more than people who sleep more than 7 hours per night!

The Experiment of Professor Derk-Jan Dijk & His Team

After selecting 26 volunteers between 23 and 31 years old who use to sleep an average 8 hours every night, they were allowed to sleep some nights more than 7 hours, other nights lesser than 5 hours.

Meanwhile, some tests were performed to examine their transcriptome, represented by all the messenger-RNA in the blood.

Less Concentrated and Slower

The results oh this experiment are clear: A sleep shorter than 6 hours per night causes bad results in behavioral tests such as cognitive tests and reaction time tests.

$

The change of season, the temperature that drops, the days are getting shorter, the start of the school: These are all small details that can affect your sleep.

5 Tips For Sleeping Great During Autumn!

However this does not mean necessarily having a worse sleep! Read our 5 simple tips and sleep great during the “best season to rest well”!

Perfect Temperatures: Neither Too Warm Or Too Cold

Maybe you have never thought about it, but Autumn is one of the best time to rest well: the outside temperatures should allow you to keep the inside house temperature around 20-22 Celsius degrees, without using air conditioning or heaters.

On sunny days, do not forget to keep open the windows of bedrooms as much as possible: The Sun and chilly breeze will purify the air in the rooms and are both great allies against mites!

1. Keep Humidity Under Control

Autumn is a drier season than Summer, this is the reason you may need a humidifier: Check the humidity levels in the house, keeping in mind that the optimal percentage is around 50%.

2. Set Your Time

During the Summer you often take the bad habit of sleeping fewer hours than necessary; Many hours of sunlight, the heat days, the evening out until late, these are all factors that can “set” our body to an incorrect timing.

It’s very important sleeping at least 7/8 hours every night; During the Autumn the sun goes down earlier than in Summer, so it will be easier for you to adjust your sleep-wake cycles. You’ll wake up in the morning full of energies!

3. Eat Well

Every season has its fruits: Even in Autumn do not give up to eat fresh fruits and vegetables! Avoid heavy foods for dinner and drink a lot of water. Due to the less sweating we use to drink lesser in Fall: Do not forget to drink at minimum 2 liters of water every day!

4. Perfect Days To Work Out

Enjoy this season to work out before the cold Winter: Walking, jogging and bring your children to the park!

5. What About the Mattress?

It’s not time yet to turn your mattress on the Winter side, instead it’s always the right time to check the quality of your bed system: Sleep well during Fall and throughout the year!

Ask for an advice to a sleep expert in one of our many authorized reseller: Sleep well and live better!

There are on average 1.5 million of mites on each mattress, smaller than 1 millimeter, which feed on flakes of human skin and produce allergens we inhale during the sleep.

Fortunately they are inoffensive for most of us, except for those who suffer from mites allergy and other ailments like asthma. In any case the exposure to these allergens may cause the beginning of allergies and respiratory upsets.

Research Has Shown It: If You Make Your Bed, More Mites will Proliferate!

A recent research published by University of Kingston has demonstrated how the dust mites reproduce more on a re-made bed!

This was due to the warm and the humidity produced by us during the night: These are the perfect conditions for the propagation of this microscopic insect.

A Un-made Bed Helps the Cooling Of the Mattress

Leaving the bed in a mess, better if the room is well ventilated, promotes the cooling of the mattress and the evaporation of its humidity accumulated during the night: A less attractive field for mites.
